They are aroused by both men and women, or just women.
According to a study carried out by the University of Essex, women are either bisexual or gay but ‘never straight’.
Researchers played short videos to the 345 sample of women and recorded their responses, including whether their pupils dilated when shown sexual stimuli.
They found that 82 percent of the participants were strongly sexual aroused by nude videos of both attractive men and women, and of the women who identified as straight, 74 percent were aroused by both genders.
In contrast, lesbians were far more attracted to the female form, barely responding to the nude men. that to gay women responding more like men because it’s usually men who show distinct sexual responses to their favorite sex.
Dr Gerulf Rieger, Lead researcher of the study, stated.
“Even though the majority of women identify as straight, our research clearly demonstrates that when it comes to what turns them on, they are either bisexual or gay, but never straight.”
He also said that lesbians who may dress in a more masculine way may not necessarily have more masculine behaviors:
“Although some lesbians were more masculine in their sexual arousal, and others were more masculine in their behaviours, there was no indication that these were the same women. This shows us that how women appear in public does not mean that we know anything about their sexual role preferences.”
Dr Rieger was clear to point out that by “never”, he meant ‘the majority of women who identify as straight are not straight in their sexual arousal,’ which should spare him from accusations of being a random male claiming to understand every single woman’s sexuality better than women do themselves.
