It has been years since the Tesla Model S went on sale, but it’s still the electric car to have. It can be the crazy car for those men with the occasional itch for speed.
If you haven’t heard, the P100D performance version of the Model S is supercar-fast — no, it’s faster than virtually anything with four wheels!
A recent test conducted by Motor Trend had a production Tesla S P100D accelerated from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in a neck-snapping 2.28 seconds — faster than even Tesla thought was possible. The car was originally thought to be capable of a 2.5-seconds sprint at best.
Somewhere in Silicon Valley, Elon Musk is grinning…
The Porsche 918, McLaren P1, and LaFerrari might as well pull over, because there is no way they’re beating the 2.28-second time in their current states.
Hell, can even the monstrous, ridiculously expensive Bugatti Chiron beat the Tesla? Doubtful.
As fast as the P100D is to 60mph, it doesn’t have the highest top speed and actually hits higher speeds more slowly than other cars. That needed to be said.
Regardless, to achieve that insane level of acceleration, you must set the P100D in “Ludicrous+ Easter Egg mode.” Just press the bottom, step on the pedal, and speed your way to the nearest hospital to have a doctor check the severe case of whiplash you just got.
Is there anyone that thinks the Tesla Model S is overrated?
