Drinking beer is generally associated with weight gain and the dreaded ‘beer belly’, but what if we told you that there is a beer that actually builds muscle and gets you ripped?
The innovative drink in question is aptly called “Barbell Brew”, and it might be no joke. It’s gluten-free and contains 21.8g of protein (roughly the same amount as a sirloin steak) but only 92.4 calories!
With only 3.6 percent ABV, Barbell Brew isn’t going to excite your taste buds. However, online health retailer MuscleFood, its creator, is very convinced it passes the taste test.
According to the Mirror, MuscleFood spent months rigorously testing and perfecting their ground-breaking brew. Company spokesperson Darren Beale told the news outlet:
“Living a healthy lifestyle can be difficult, especially when you enjoy a drink with friends. But now our high-protein alternative means anyone can enjoy a beer without the guilt.”
Studies have shown that it’s not necessarily beer but too many calories that causes beer bellies. Fortunately, Barbell Brew supposedly ‘tastes similar’ to popular craft beers while delivering 85 percent fewer carbs and 33 per cent fewer calories.
It might very well be a dream come true for beer lovers, or possibly snake oil. Do any of you have experience with anything like it?
