Those that didn’t see the live showing of the men’s 100 meter sprint at the 2015 World Athletics Championships missed out on what is arguably the most intense race in recent memory. People doubted him, but Usain Bolt managed to retain his title as the world’s fastest man.

After a dodgy 2015 season on the track, the Jamaican track star stormed to victory with a time of 9.79 seconds, beating rival Justin Gatlin by mere inches. It was surprising that he even made the finals after stumbling out of the blocks in his semi-final run…

But, in typical Bolt fashion, he saved his best run for last, silencing all doubters in epic fashion in Beijing, China.

Twice-convicted drug user Gatlin was the favourite to win and it seemed he was going to cross the line first when the race started, but Bolt roared back to retain his title by just one hundredth of a second!
