If you’re one of those sad people who go around proclaiming “gingers have no soul,” you probably shouldn’t have attended the Ginger Convention that was held in the village of Crosshaven in Ireland. There were approximately 2000 redheads that wouldn’t have hesitated to give you the beating of your life.
Started in 2009 by a lady by the name of Joleen Cronin, the annual Irish Redhead Convention celebrates everything orange and red, and by that we mean redheads. There were many games to be played, including ‘carrot tossing’ and ‘freckle counting’. No kidding…
It started six years ago we were thinking of novel ways to celebrate my brother’s birthday.
This thought of having a party and only inviting people with red hair got tossed around and we thought let’s keep this going.
We made it very fun and friendly and very open for families.
It’s amazing to be surrounded by so many redheads again. You’re walking around the village and half the people here have red hair – it’s off the scale!
