The most affordable super SUV and one of the manliest vehicles currently on the market is now more powerful than ever. We are talking about the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, of course.
For its 2015 model year, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 gets its signature 6.4L HEMI V8 engine tweaked to now produce 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque — an increase of 5 hp and 5 lb-ft. over the 2014 model. It is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds on route to a top speed of 160 mph (258 km/h), while stopping power is delivered by large Brembo brakes capable of bringing it to a halt from 60 mph in just 116 feet.
Despite all the ruckus of the additional power, the updated Grand Cherokee SRT8 is quieter than its predecessors, thanks to a standard active noise canceling system that employs four microphones located throughout the cabin and the audio system to cancel out unwanted noises.
A new Red Vapor special edition package joins the lineup for the first time, offering buyers 20-inch wheels finished in black chrome, gloss black grille accents, and gloss black badging, as well as a choice of three body colors: Redline Red Pearl Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat and Bright White Clear Coat.
Inside, Red Vapor-equipped models feature a backlit SRT steering wheel logo, anodized silver trim, and unique black chrome and Radar Red accents.
