Twitter Might Ban Porn Images and Videos

Twitter explicit content

Twitter might ban pornographic images and introduce an age restriction controls after strong outcry over the amount of unrestricted nude photos on the social media platform.

There are currently no rules against the tweeting of very explicit content, and there are hundreds, if not thousands of accounts, dedicated to pornographic materials. In fact, up to 500,000 pornographic images are tweeted every single day on Twitter.

With so many “inappropriate” pictures (and even videos) circulating, the lack of controls preventing children from seeing them has resulted in a rash of complaints. Anyone can look at the content without signing up for a Twitter account.

Twitter has asked porn companies, in particular, for a restriction on their content, much like the 18 plus filter that Facebook has.

According to Mark Hassell of Paul Raymond publications:

I think Twitter should look at filtering and putting in an 18+ restriction. I think everyone in the adult industry would think that’s the right thing. We have children and younger family members and don’t want them seeing stuff that is too full-on and inappropriate.

You know what, I actually agree with that statement; what about you?
