Not long after declaring war on ISIS following the attack on French magazine Charlie Hebdo, hacking group Anonymous has successfully taken down over 100 Twitter and Facebook accounts that were supposedly used by the terrorist militants “to expand their influence and recruit new members.”
Most of the accounts were either suspended or had their tweets / posts deleted and passwords changed.
According to the group, the attack was conducted by hackers, crackers, hacktivists, phishers, agents, spies, or just the guy next door; by students, administrators, workers, clerks, unemployed, rich, poor; by young or old, gay or straight; from all races, countries, religions, and ethnicity; united as one, divided by zero.
They issued a stern proclamation to ISIS:
ISIS, we will hunt you, take down your sites, accounts, emails, and expose you from now on. No safe place for you online. You will be treated like a virus, and we are the cure.
They ended off with their famous sign-off: “We are Anonymous; we are legion; we do not forgive, we do not forget. Expect us!”
I gotta say, I am liking Anonymous more and more by the day.
